The LightningCoordinator is a decoupling inductivity designed for the energy-based coordination of lightning arresters, Type 1 (Class B) and surge arresters Type 2 (Class C). If several protection devices are present in anetwork, a reciprocal influence may occur that necessitates energy-based coordination of parallel-connectedprotectors.
The coordinator ensures that the lightning arrester, Type 1 (Class B) reliably responds in the event of an overvoltage being caused by lightning. This discharges the high-energy pulsed current and protects the surge arrester Type 2 or 3 (Class C or D) from overload.
