Power Surge Protection

Power surges are short duration voltage and current impulses that occur continuously in electrical distribution systems. The source of a surge can originate externally or internally. Lighting, utility activities such as load or capacity bank switching and surges from motor drivers are all examples of power surges. Phoenix Contact offers a comprehensive product line of power surge protective devices (SPD) to provide solution for virtually any application.

AC Surge Protection

Protection for common global power used in distribution system from the main distribution panel on the low side of the voltage transformer to the control cabinet of your vital equipment. Protection ranges from single phase to 3 phase, 24 volts to 600 volts, delta, Wye, TN-C and TN-S systems AC surge protection is divided into:

  • Electrical panel
  • Control cabinet
Electrical Panel Surge Protection
Electrical power is distributed through out the facility from the service entrance to the sub panel. Each location has different requirement for surge protection such as surge handling capabilities and short circuit current ratings. Remote sites must be able to withstand extreme level of surge energy while keeping the voltage level under equipment specification. Protection is available for:

DC Surge Protection

Protection for common DC systems used in high and low power applications powering your vital equipment. Protection ranges from 12 volts to 1000 volts, Common applications are telecommunication, cell tower site, solar photovoltaic and off grid application.





Solar Photovoltaic- SET
The PV sets are pre assembled protection solutions in IP65 installation housing. All surge arresters in the PV sets have temperature-monitored high-capacity varistors with optical fault warning and dynamic disconnect device.
PV-SET 1000 DC protects a photovoltaic string or a string input at the inverter between L+, L- and the ground/PE.
PV-SET 1000 DC/AC provides optimum protection to an inverter, since the pre-assembled solution protects the DC input and the AC outputs from surge voltages.
PV-SET 5ST/600DC is designed for the protection of an inverter.

VALVETRAB MS
VALVETRAB MS is a one position, rail-mountable surge protective devices. VALVETRAB can be mounted in rows and bridged on the ground connection side. Available in single phase and 3 phase configurations. Voltages range from 12 V AC up to 1000 V DC.
